untame & rewild
A journey of rewilding
My non-linear career journey began at ETH Zurich.
As a material scientist, I spent years analyzing the world beneath its visible surface.
But eventually, I realized I was trying to fit myself into a strict societal paradigm of high performance, endless optimization, and constant proof.
I was surviving inside a machine, but I wasn't truly living.
After my postdoc and the birth of my second child, I stepped away from academia to become a biodynamic mountain farmer in the steep slopes of the Mesolcina valley in Switzerland.
Homesteading and farming became my living sanctuary.
For years, I tended to bees, grew my vegetable garden, milked cows, made cheese, and co-created with the land.
I began to belong to nature again. I felt the landscape with my entire being, held by the gentle warmth of the mountain sun, awakened by the fresh rain, and grounded by the crisp alpine air.
But during the pandemic, this life fell apart, too. Losing my farm and beloved animals was devastating.
Eventually, I reemerged as an artist: an alpine landscape painter.
This non-linear professional life was my path to rewilding.
I stopped forcing myself into a pre-made mold, untamed my life, and slowly returned to my true nature.
❦
Today, I spend my time in the mountains, allowing myself to be deeply moved by their beauty as I capture their raw essence.
The shifting light, the profound silence, and their ancient, timeless spirit.
Working with oil paint, both in the studio and directly out in the elements, I paint these alpine landscapes not as mere motifs, but as a living presence.
It is a search for those quiet, fleeting moments where the wildness of the landscape meets something deep inside us.
